The TMTA is made up of businesses in the metalworking, manufacturing, and technologies industries that have voluntarily united in order to:(1) costs and achieve efficiency through mass purchasing power, and (2) to have a unified voice representing the interests of the membership and the industries they represent.

  • Health/Dental/Vision Insurance – The Association contracts with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network to provide members with direct, online updating of records when you join our Association Sponsor Group through BCBSM as well as premium agent services when you make the TMTA Insurance Agency your agent of record.

  • Vision Program – TMTA works with SVS Vision to provide member company employees and their families discounted eyewear needs. TMTA members also have the opportunity to develop their own company safety eyewear program based on their individual company needs.
  • Group Insurance – Together with Reliance Standard-Ameritas, the program offers substantial monthly savings and provides broad coverages to owners of small to medium-sized companies that would normally be ineligible for such services. The group insurance program provides coverage in the areas of life, accidental death & dismemberment, dependent life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurances.
  • Dental Program – The Association, utilizing Reliance Standard-Ameritas, provides a fully insured dental program that offers a wide variety of benefit choices allowing member companies to design a dental program to meet the needs of their employees.
  • Telehealth Services Program – TMTA has teamed with Call-A-Doctor to offer our members the latest in health services, telehealth, at affordable prices. This service pays for itself in less employee missed work time for doctor appointments for themselves and their families.
  • Property & Casualty Insurance – TMTA has teamed with the Accident Fund and the Ralph C. Wilson Agency to create a TMTA exclusive bundle of insurance coverages aimed at the risks our members face in the manufacturing. Workers’ compensation insurance can be added to any package.
  • Unemployment Savings – Under an agreement with Packer & Associates, TMTA members receive a huge discount on the fees for total Michigan unemployment compensation cost control services.

Industry Information:

The Association provides valuable industry information to the membership and others with:

  • Surveys – relevant to the metalworking industry throughout the USA. Companies who participate in these special surveys receive the results in such matters as wages, employment trends, personnel practices, industry safety issues, etc.
  • Lunch & Learn Seminars – The TMTA sponsors seminars on topics of interest to the industry such as: employee relations, tax, and estate planning, federal and state laws affecting the industry, best business practices, quality systems, marketing, sales, and compliance and registration issues.
  • TMTA Talk – The Association began publishing the Tool Service bulletin during World War II at the request of the government and today the Association continues to provide timely information to its members through the TMTA Tool Talk Newsletters.
  • Member Services Directory – The Association publishes the Member Services Directory, an annual listing of all active members sorted by the type of services they provide along with their contact information. It is distributed free-of-charge to each member company and, by request, it is also provided free-of-charge to any company deemed to have need of its information. This is a tremendous tool for a company looking for a specific type of work.

Networking Opportunities:

The Association promotes and strengthens relationships with the networking opportunities of its members to encourage and assist members with ideas and information to improve their businesses.

One of the most successful social functions of the Association is its TMTA Annual Golf Outing and Dinner. As one of the longest-running annual golf events in the country, attendance has been high. This gala event is an annual summer highlight for members and their customers alike.

The Association hosts the TMTA Annual Meeting for all members in accordance with the Association’s by-laws. Members enjoy the opportunity to meet with the TMTA Board of Directors followed by a luncheon with all attending members.

The Association has sponsored specific interest travel and business trips. The Association has co-sponsored (with the US Department of Commerce) trade missions to Europe, Russia, and Japan.
